Learn More About Unsafe Service Employment Commit to only doing business with those service companies that perform criminal background checks on their workers and subcontractors. Just because you trust the company you hire, it doesn't mean the employees they send into your home are not convicted felons. Criminals often use their employment to find their next victim. Bonded and insured does NOT mean a criminal background check has been preformed on the worker. Many major corporations use subcontractors. You may not be hiring who you think.

August 27, 2001, Sue Weaver was brutally raped and beaten to death by a twice convicted sex-offender hired to do service work in her home. Sue had contracted with a major department store to have the air ducts in her home cleaned. Burdine's did not conduct criminal background checks on those workers they sent into their clients' homes.
